Throughout my career, I have practiced both Western medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Life span, healthspan and vitality are the foundational building blocks of my practice.

As a neurologist, I learned the power of modern diagnostics and pharmaceutical treatments. In Western medicine, we focus on treating disease after it’s appeared. We are exceptionally skilled at diagnosing illness, performing lifesaving procedures, and developing medications that have transformed millions of lives.

My later training in Traditional Chinese Medicine taught me to look for the root of the disease, balancing the body’s energy and to work at the level of body-mind-spirit. When we find that balance, we’re helping the body to restore itself. In ancient China, “the Emperor would not pay his physician if the Emperor was sick. The job of the doctor was to prevent any illness from occurring.”

Today, these two worlds can work together. By combining evidence-based medicine with personalized lifestyle strategies, nutrition, restorative sleep, exercise, stress management, and targeted therapies, when appropriate, we can help patients achieve longevity and health optimization for years to come.

Medicine is changing. Now, my patients are asking a different question—not simply, “How do I treat disease?” but, “How do I stay healthy, energetic, mentally sharp, and independent for as long as possible?”

This is where longevity and health optimization begin.

We are living longer, but not always better. The goal is no longer simply to extend lifespan, but to extend healthspan—the years of life we spend thinking clearly, moving freely, and maintaining independence.

Long before symptoms become disease, advances in laboratory testing now allow us to evaluate:

These insights make truly personalized prevention possible, allowing us to optimize your healthspan.

After more than four decades in medicine, I believe longevity and health optimization represent not only the future of healthcare, but the medicine we should be practicing today.

Health optimization is not about chasing youth. It is about preserving vitality, resilience, cognitive function, and quality of life.

The latest statistics predict that Baby Boomers will live to between 90 and 100 years old and Millennials will live to be 100 plus.

The goal is not merely to add years to our lives. It is to add life to those years, filled with wellbeing and joy.
